HEALTHY DIET Make better food choices! One of the best ways to begin your journey to a healthier diet is to make better food choices. A good rule of thumb; the more natural food the better it is; the more processed a food, the worse it is. Natural foods are rich in nutrients, enzymes and fiber. Processes foods often have added sugar, chenical preservatives, artificial colors, and refined flour. Start with the staples in your family's dit and see if you can make that food healthier. Breas can be used as an example. If you are currently eating bread with refined white flour, try switching to whole grain bread with natural ingredients. Natural food markets sell delicious healthy alternatives to most processed foods sold in regular grocery stores. Read Labels! What exactly are you and your family putting inyour bodies every day? Do you know? Many people are shocked when they begin to read what is in the foods they eat every day. Look at the ingredient lit first, and the Nutrition Facts second (the label that break down fats, carbohydrates, etc.). Looking only at the Nutrition Facts doesn't tell you what the source of the nutrients is and doesn't list additional ingredients that don't contribute to nutrient content. Add and Subtract on a Regular Basis! Add fresh fruits and vegetables to what you eat daily and subtract refines sugar, refined flour and fried foods. Interestingly enough, adding fresh fruits and vegetables daily has shown to help prtect you from cancer and heart disease, and subracting sugar, refined flour and fried foods has been shown to subtract excess fat from the body and reduces risks for a variety of health problems. Choose Organic! Organic foods are produced without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers, and are minimally processed to maintain the integrity of the food without artiicial ingredients, preservatives or iradiation. Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes the fertility of the soil. Because they grown in more nutrient-dense soils, it is believed that organic foods are richer in nutrients. Many people also choose organic foods because they claim the food tastes better.
