This recipe is what I call Veggie Bihon. It is simply a Bihon(rice noodles) as what you call in the Philippines but since it is purely vegan I call it Veggie Bihon. The ingredients are: oil garlic (chopped) onions spring onions carrots, cut in strips cabbage, in strips soy sauce vinegar Teriyaki Sauce (optional) TVP(optional) salt to taste ground black pepper, pinch Rice noodles (soaked and drained) I prefer na vegetable stock or water Heat oil in a pan. Add garlic, onion, carrots and TVP if available. Mix and add soy sauce and vinegar. Once the carrots is half-done, add the vegetable stock or water. Then add the soaked rice noodles, cabbage, spring onions, and black pepper. Mix it well and add teriyaki sauce if available and salt. Adjust according to your taste. |

If you're switching to a vegetarian/vegan diet but can't let go of the regular tempura you liked, then this recipe is a great alternative to still eat and enjoy tempura. I've tried making this and it tastes just like the ones you can get at some Japanese restaurants. For a tempura batter you need: - 1 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup water
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
For frying you need: - oil for frying
- mixed veggies, any kind
Combine the flour, salt sugar and baking powder. Slowly add the vegetable oil and water until smooth and creamy. Chill for at least 15 min. Heat the oil in the pan and drop the battered vegetables. Allow to cook for about 3 min until crisp and lightly golden brown. Drain in paper towels. |
